What Kind of Victory?

Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us.

 Rom 8:37 Amplified Bible

What kind of victory do you have in Jesus?  A surpassing victory.  If you look at the original language of the phrase used in this verse, “we are more than conquerors” you get to take a deep-dive into God’s design for you to win over the enemy.

The phase means, To vanquish beyond, that is, gain a decisive victory.

It is a compound phrase made up of two words that mean:

over, exceeding abundantly, beyond, very chiefest, above

to subdue (literally or figuratively) conquer, overcome, prevail, get the victory

If we put the meanings of these two words together you have an “over-the- top victory” In Christ you are a conquerer who has an exceeding-abundant win.  You don’t just prevail…You SUPER prevail. The very chief thing that you do is conquer beyond all the plans of the enemy.  In Him your victory will utterly subdue the enemy.  Literally and figuratively.

When do you need the win?  In heaven or now here on earth?  Why would God put such strong language about your victory in the New Testament only to make you wait the next 30 years until you get to heaven to use it? You need the victory today.

Reading in the Message Bible of 1 John 5:4-5 it says “Every God-begotten person conquers the world’s ways. The conquering power that brings the world to its knees is our faith. The person who wins out over the world’s ways is simply the one who believes Jesus is the Son of God.”

Seeing yourself as an overcomer and not a victim of circumstances starts with knowing who you are and who you belong to.  You can confidently say that in Christ you are Victory-begotten.  You are new born from One who overcame sin.

This places you in a position that is much better than just winning the game or a one-time event.  Why do athletes continue to compete after they have already won an event? Once you are crowned the “winner” that title will only last until the next time the event is held and then you must defend your crown. The world’s way of competition is to continue to win and defend or you will lose your trophy.  In Christ, you have gained a decisive victory over sin, guilt, shame and all the plans of the enemy. You are the trophy!  It surpasses the worlds idea of just winning an event.  Your victory has been proved.  There is no need to defend your title, it was done for you 2000 years ago.

Use your surpassing victory today to bring the world of circumstances to its knees!
